The Certificate III in Cleaning Operations applies to individuals working in the cleaning industry as cleaners who are responsible for planning work, liaising with customers and operating in a range of general domestic and commercial settings as well as specialised cleaning environments.

The cleaner may work alone or under supervision and have responsibility selecting the method of cleaning to be used and ensuring safe work practices..

Core Units

  • Plan for safe and efficient cleaning activities
  • Maintain cleaning storage areas
  • Support leadership in the workplace
  • Contribute to workplace safety arrangements

Elective Units

  • Maintain carpeted floors
  • Clean glass surfaces
  • Maintain furniture, fittings and room dressings
  • Clean wet areas
  • Sort and remove waste and recyclable materials
  • Clean external surfaces
  • Replace a hard floor finish
  • Restore hard floor surfaces
  • Use dry absorbent compound
  • Clean window coverings
  • Wash furniture and fittings
  • Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
  • Respond to enquiries and complaints
  • Comply with infection control policies and procedures
